GARY HEXOM

Gary was born in Australia and moved to the United States in 1946.  His parents and sister migrated back to Australia in 1949 and then back to the USA in 1952.  Gary migrated to Australia three more time, the last two with his wife and two sons.  He has traveled extensively throughout the world and, as a result, has a keen interest in international affairs.

Background

Gary has been an educator for 39 years he is currently the Superintendent of the Winship-Robbins Elementary School District.  For 19 of those years he taught all grades, 2nd through 11th.   In addition to the 17 years teaching in the United States he taught for two years in Australia.  He secured his first administrator job in California over 20 years ago and has served in many capacities at both the site and district office level.  As the Director of Alternative Education in Sacramento he was responsible for initiating the first pre-school, adult education and opportunity programs as well as the continuation high school.   Assignments as principal have taken him to Northern and Southern California as well as Connecticut.  Until recently, he was an adjunct professor at National University, teaching various courses in the School of Educational Administration.
